EnterpriseROI™ Platform Architectural Overview

The Alinean Business Value Selling Solutions are built using the Alinean EnterpriseROI™ Architecture, the first scalable enterprise wide business value selling platform.

The Alinean EnterpriseROI™ Architecture utilizes an industry standard scalable architecture designed to support workflow and collaboration for all IT stakeholders in dynamic team environments. The software is designed to provide equal functionality for connected and disconnected usage (Pack and Go), role-based access and functionality, project organization and collaboration tools, powerful simulations and analytics, and comprehensive reporting.

The underlying architecture is 100% Java, designed using industry standards, and seamlessly supports Enterprise Application Integration to front and back-office applications via the standards-based Connector architecture.

Web Browser
Using a standard web browser (see recommended software), users of the application can access all features and functionality. Additionally, system administrators can administer and monitor users, content, templates, features, and security settings.

Pack-N-Go Synchronizer

Pack–N–Go clients are user’s computers that have been configured to run a fully functional copy with a self contained database of the application. The Pack-N-Go software only supports ROIAnalyst™, and provides local copy so that the user does not have to be connected to the corporate LAN or Internet to use the tool. This is valuable for consultant and sales staff users for example who can then utilize the software while traveling, but still remain synchronized with the central database content and analyses when they reconnect. Pack-N-Go ROIAnalyst™ is distributed as a single executable that will fully install and configure the end-user's computer.

Administration Console
An Administration Console is provided to manage user accounts, roles and security. The console can be used by a select group of authorized and privileged users to:

• Add, disable or delete users

• Edit or change user roles, which helps to define levels of feature privileges

• Publish ROI and TCO templates

• Edit or delete analysis files

• Edit or delete analysis files

• Monitor usage and generate reports

Security
Security is integrated including login, automatic logout on session expiration, encrypted password storage in the database, user administration of their own password, administrative user account creation, password validation checks for password creation and editing integrity, and controllable password expiration and re-specification.

Security extensions are available for integration into third-party authentication systems. Security Extension integration and support is available from Alinean for an additional integration, support and maintenance contract.

Requirements

Recommended User Software
The software is a pure-Internet application that requires no client downloads or installations. The software user interface has been optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.x or higher.

Recommended Configurations

For Software as a Service (SaaS), no software or hardware is needed. This is the preferred delivery mechanism, providing the lowest total cost of ownership solution.

For installed versions, the following server software is required:

[1] Minimum recommended configuration. The single server configuration has the EnterpriseROI™ based applications and the DBMS installed on the same machine.  This recommendation will support up to 30 users.

[2] Minimum recommended configuration. This configuration consists of separate physical installations of the EnterpriseROI™ based applications and the DBMS. This configuration will support an estimated 100 users.
